Nan Tien Temple

Nan Tien Temple

The largest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere is located in Berkeley, a southern suburb of Wollongong.

Nan Tien Temple was erected in the early 1990s utilising modern technology to resemble a Chinese palace with soaring eaves.

The complex is set amid beautiful gardens on a calm hillside and includes two large prayer halls with Tibetan-style architecture, meeting rooms, a museum, lodging, and a restaurant.

Japanese-style gardens can be found in the courtyards.

Come to be wowed by the architecture, relax in the peaceful surroundings, and peruse an exhibition.

There are also retreats and classes for mindful doodling, meditation, Buddhism, and Tai Chi at the temple.
